St. John’s, NL, August 14, 2019 – St. John’s based brand, The Shop, SALT is ready to jump into the Nova Scotia market, hosting their first ever off-island pop up at Lake City Cider in Dartmouth, this coming Sunday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The brand has grown significantly since their launch in 2017, starting with a business model that centred around an online store paired with special pop up events that quickly took Newfoundland and Labrador by storm. Over the last year, sales have increased in other Canadian provinces, with Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Alberta showing more and more interest in SALT.
SALT stands for the age-old saying, “Salt of the Earth,” meaning someone who is both genuine and good-natured. The brand strives to celebrate those who represent the sentiment, following their passions, staying true to themselves, and living their life to the fullest. For Emily Evans and Lauren Saunders, Co-Directors of The Shop, SALT, they’ve been thrilled that the brand meaning has resonated with so many people across the country.
“We’ve had so much support from Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who want to celebrate being genuine. In many ways, it’s a part of our culture.” says Saunders. “But, striving to be ‘Salt of the earth,’ isn’t unique to our home province.”
Evans agrees. “We’re seeing increased interest from other parts of Canada who are interested in the meaning behind our brand. We’ve received a lot of love from our neighbouring Atlantic Provinces, in Nova Scotia in particular. It’s been really exciting and we are thrilled to be in Dartmouth this weekend.”
A curated selection of SALT will be available for purchase this Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 12:00 - 5:00 pm AST at Lake City Cider, 35 Portland Street, Dartmouth.

The Shop, SALT Inc.
The Shop, SALT was established in May 2017 by lifelong friends, Emily Evans and Lauren Saunders. After a decade of dreaming about starting their own clothing brand and establishing their own careers, the duo felt that if the aspiration was still strong, it was an endeavour worth exploring. After two years of hard work and $200 shared start-up investment, SALT has grown to be well recognized online-based brand in Newfoundland and Labrador that continues to grow across the country.
